TOEIC Listening & Reading
- Is paper-based and it consists of 200 questions.
- The test takes about 2,5 hours to complete ( half an hour is dedicated to instructions).
- The 200 questions are divided into two parts:
a) Listening: 45 minutes
b) Writing: 75 minutes

- is internet based and takes about 1,5 hours

This test was redesigned, and a new version launched in 2007, to obtain a better measure of workplace English; accordingly, in the new test:
Emphasis is on workplace situations
4 English accents have been included (Canadian, British, American and Australian)
The capacity to understand new professional vocabulary is tested
The capacity to connect information conveyed across multiple sentences is also tested
The TOEIC Bridge test measures competence in listening to and reading in English, at beginner to intermediate levels (levels A1 to B1 of the CEFRL). It is a reliable and valid assessment that is internationally recognised, and has proved to be a good motivational tool to encourage beginners to proceed to the next level. Test-takers can also use the scores to focus on areas of improvement.
How does TOEIC Bridge work?
The Bridge test is a paper-and-pencil based assessment, comprising 100 multiple-choice questions in 2 sections – oral and written comprehension
It lasts less than an hour and features questions that are easier to answer than those on the TOEIC test
Candidates are given a total score ranging from 20 to 180 points (10 to 90 on each section)
They are also given sub-scores that help pinpoint areas of weakness and strength; on grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading strategies and functions

If you are planning to study abroad, the TOEFL test is the one test that can take you anywhere. In fact, more institutions accept TOEFL test scores than any other test scores in the world — more than 7,000 colleges, universities and licensing agencies in more than 130 countries, to be exact.

- In 2005, ETS created a new version of the TOEFL, the internet based TOEFL available in all countries including Romania. - The TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) is testing all four necessary abilities: reading, listening, speaking and writing.
- The speaking section includes 6 parts. The answers are recorded and transmitted online to the ETS Evaluation Network, where evaluators are scoring the tests according to the ETS standards.

The TOEFL test gives you more flexibility on when, where and how often you can take the test, and more practice tools and feedback, than any other English-language test in the world.
You will be able to listen to lectures, view films, attend seminars, read textbooks, perform online research, speak with professors and other students, write academic papers, reports, e-mails and more.
TFI, Test de Français International, is a French language test for people who are not French native speakers.
Just like the TOEIC, TFI is an instrument created by ETS with the purpose of evaluating the persons abilities of using the French language in the professional or educational environment.
- TFI test slide on paper and consists of 180 multiple choice questions.
- Test takes about 2.5 hours (half hour is dedicated to the progress of the examination instructions).
- The 200 questions are divided into two sections:
a) understanding the oral message: 90 questions in 42 minute
b) understanding the message: 90 questions in 68 minute
As an objective and fair measure of language proficiency, test TFI will provide quick score (in up to 2 weeks), completed with a description of the candidate's ability to communicate in French described according to CERF (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
There is no score or passing score of rejection. Following the test, the result is representative of when the candidate had exam.
A certificate from Cambridge ESOL tells people a great deal about you and what you can do. It is recognized as proof of your language abilities by more than 8,500 employers, universities and government bodies around the world.
FCE is an exam for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level. It is an ideal exam for people who want to use English for work or study purposes.
How does it work?
FCE has five papers: Reading: 1 hour
You will need to be able to understand information in fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspapers and magazines. Writing: 1 hour 20 minutes
You will have to show you can produce two different pieces of writing such as a short story, a letter, an article, a report, a review or an essay. Use of English: 45 minutes
Your use of English will be tested by tasks which show how well you control your grammar and vocabulary. Listening: 40 minutes
You need to show you can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including news programs, speeches, stories and anecdotes and public announcements. Speaking: 14 minutes
You will take the Speaking test with another candidate or in a group of three, and you will be tested on your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidates and by yourself.
• FCE offers a clear pathway to higher qualifications such as the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).
• FCE's 'Can Do' skills enable you to use English in real situations with confidence. FCE exams use real-life situations and are especially designed to help you communicate more effectively in your own life and to focus your language learning on the skills you will actually need.
• Because FCE exams focus on all four communication skills (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) plus the use of English, you increase your confidence in using English in everyday situations.
CAE is an exam for advanced users of English. This exam is aimed at people who can use written and spoken English for most professional and social purposes. It is widely recognized for work or study purposes.
How does it work?
CAE has five papers: Reading: 1 hour 15 minutes
You will need to be able to understand texts from publications such as fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspapers and magazines. Writing: 1 hour 30 minutes
You will have to show you can produce two different pieces of writing such as an article, a report, a proposal and a review. Use of English Paper: 1 hour
Your use of English will be tested by tasks which show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary. Listening: 40 minutes
You need to show you can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including lectures, radio broadcasts, speeches and talks. Speaking: 15 minutes
You will take the Speaking test with another candidate or in a group of three, and you will be tested on your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidate and by yourself.
Why CAE?
• Passing CAE is a major step towards taking our highest qualification, CPE.
• CAE is a truly international exam, recognized by hundreds of employers as proof of advanced ability in English and also by universities and colleges as proof of ability to study in English to undergraduate level.
• Companies such as Microsoft, Airbus, IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers recognize the value of CAE in their overseas offices.
CPE is Cambridge ESOL's most advanced exam. It is aimed at people who use English for professional or study purposes.
How does it work?
CPE has five papers: Reading: 1 hour 30 minutes
You will need to be able to understand the meaning of written English at word, sentence, paragraph and whole text level. Writing: 2 hours
You will have to show you can produce a number of different items such as a short story, a letter, an article, a report or a composition, each of about 300—350 words. Use of English: 1 hour 30 minutes
Your use of English will be tested by tasks which show how well you can control your grammar and vocabulary and how well you can summarize information. Listening: 40 minutes (approx)
You need to show you can understand the meaning of a range of spoken material, including lectures, news programs and public announcements. Speaking: 19 minutes
You will take the Speaking test with another candidate or in groups of three, and you will be tested on your ability to take part in different types of interaction: with the examiner, with the other candidates and by yourself.
Why CPE?
Cambridge ESOL is a department of the world-famous and historic University of Cambridge. Attaining one of its certificates is an achievement and a reward in itself. However, there are many other benefits to taking CPE:
• a CPE certificate is valid for life, you never need to take the exam again
• CPE is truly international, recognized around the world for business and study purposes
