The Romanian Law of sponsorship nr. 32/1994 has been operating for 21 years. Despite the fact that this tax facility is known by 87% of the SMEs, only 52% of the companies report to have used this mechanism to direct funds to the non-governmental sector in 2014 – according to the study Cum vad ONG-urile si IMM-urile legea sponsorizarii?, carried by HOSPICE Casa Sperantei, EY Romania and Asociatia pentru Relatii Comunitare.

The good news for 2016 regarding sponsorship is that the percentage of the limit of 0,3% of the yearly turnover will increase to la 0,5%, which allows a significant increase of the values which can be directed to the non-governmental organizations. Starting with 2016, the companies can contribute even more to the development of the communities in which they operate.
